How You Can Help

Your Support:

Helps fund our free programs

Promotes positive change

Brings joy to those often overlooked

Advances the musical arts

We Love Our Supporters!

Support comes in many different forms, the most obvious being financial. You donations help fund our mission to help others in our community. It brings a personal satisfaction knowing that you are having a positive influence on the lives of others and helping to enrich their daily experiences. Whether through our weekly handbell programs or concerts given by Bronze Unlimited, your financial support is reaching those in our community that are often neglected or marginalized.

Music To Free is a 501(c)(3) organization and your donations may be tax deductible (please consult with a tax advisor if you have any questions). For all donations $25.00 or greater, Music To Free will provide a donation receipt (provided we have an email or USPS mailing address). You may donate either by check, on-line, or with a Qualified Charitable Distribution.

Giving Through a Qualified Charitable Distribution to Music To Free

Did you know you can support Music To Free while also reducing your taxable income? If you are age 70½ or older, you may make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to Music To Free, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bringing the joy of handbell music to residents of low- and fixed-income senior living centers. These programs are always free to the facilities and the residents they serve.

By choosing a QCD, you can:

  • Satisfy part or all of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
  • Reduce your taxable income, since the distribution goes directly to the charity.
  • Make a lasting impact by supporting free music programs for seniors who might not otherwise have access

Why Handbells Matter for Seniors

Playing a musical instrument offers profound health and social benefits, especially for older adults.

  • Cognitive Benefits: Research shows that learning and playing music helps reduce cognitive decline by engaging memory, focus, and problem-solving skills.
  • Emotional Well-Being: Making music stimulates the release of dopamine, which can elevate mood, ease anxiety, and increase overall feelings of happiness.
  • Social Connection: Handbells are uniquely collaborative—each player is responsible for specific notes, which means making music is a team effort. This fosters community, reduces loneliness, and encourages meaningful interaction.
  • Physical Coordination: Handbells do not require the fine motor skills and movement needed to play most other musical instruments. The gross motor movements support muscle strength, mobility, and coordination—important for maintaining independence in daily life.

A Gift That Lasts

When you direct your IRA distribution to Music To Free, you are not just making a financial contribution—you are giving seniors access to creativity, connection, and joy. Your support empowers us to provide free music programs that lift spirits, sharpen minds, and build community.
